One of the greatest things of all these social networking sites is their great capacity to the network of a group of semi-random bits of information in large databases of knowledge. In paying attention to this detail can be found an immense amount of new music online. Here are the top five places to hear music online for free.
Pandora.com is one of my favorite websites on to score a good find. Pandora’s Music Genome Project is the genius! They go through every song and technically break before submitting it to their site and dependent on what you say you like the system, which compares the structure of the songs with others in the database. Through this it is easy to find something you like, especially when you tell the search engine to find something you really like. So say your favorite band is Depeche Mode, Pandora will find other artists who sound like Depeche Mode. Pretty sweet huh? This is a great for listening at work with a group of colleagues, because everyone can choose one or two bands, and then everyone has a little ’of what will likely be similar, but have not heard before. Another interesting thing about Pandora.com is accepting new music by anyone. Which is great because I stumbled on 2 or 3 really amazing band can be so small that happen to have similar compositions to some very respectable names of great artists. So in this sense, Pandora gets 2 stars. One for a great music search engine and one for trying to help the independent musician. Pandora gives you everything is music to the same quality control and therefore it does is through the material top shelf.
Playlist.com is also another great website that has a player that can be inserted into any social networking site like myspace.com and facebook.com. I find it rare mix of songs that I love very much, and always seems to have a plethora of live tracks. Players automatically update any changes to your playlists via their website. This is great for me because I do not have to change my code! These players have up to 100 songs and I had my account about a year and I still have only 78 songs. I usually just leave MySpace and use it as my quick mix while I clean my room or sit here and write this blog semi-useless.
Youtube.com is also surprisingly large for me to find new music. A lot of people upload videos with either A) a black screen B), a collage of photos C) independently created their own music videos. I’ve heard a lot of really great club tracks here and through it is "If you liked" X "may also suggest these other 10 video" I can quickly find something to satisfy my fantasy. For example, I type in a band like Imperative Reaction and, through it, within 10 Click-Thru "I heard the music by all rather than doing something decent EBM scene as well as a couple music videos rather fantastic fans, and even the occasional license, full in the budget music video that was in some obscure DVD I’d never seen.
Myspace.com is great for keeping up with new artists as they are usually updated regularly with the latest music. And in addition, if you keep track of the artists you like, add to your list of friends you will usually know if a new album or drops to find out one of their newsletters that Against Me! just so happens to play a show in their city next week. Usually, but I can not always just throw the name of the band at the end of the URL. For example www.myspace.com / jeffreestar probably lead to the page that Trannie pink hair MySpace music. As I said this usually works, but not always.
Yahoomusic.com is great for general knowledge general. Hold it classic, but you know you can always count on visits as opposed to some bands from Arkansas whose registration is less than par. You need a Yahoo account to listen to, but it works much better on slower connections than some other sites.
